Klein Soestdijk was built in 1859 for the head director of the prisons in Veenhuizen. In that year, the colony Veenhuizen of The Society of Weldadigheid was in fact taken over by the state. After this takeover, a lot of additional buildings were needed to accommodate the entire new official organisation, which is clearly visible in the village. So too is this stately, white-plastered building, which has two side wings and symmetrical driveways to reach the front door from Hoofdweg. Because of its resemblance to Soestdijk palace, the name Klein Soestdijk soon emerged. Since 2021, the property has been in use as a Bed & Breakfast. We have four B&B rooms, including 1 comfort room and three deluxe. Two rooms are on the ground floor and two on the first floor. We serve breakfast, which we prepare with as many local and organic products as possible, in the garden room, with a beautiful view over the park-like garden.
