You'll find a comfortable bed and breakfast in every area, ideal for all your needs.

    B&B Binnenstad - Amsterdam

A B&B in the centre: excellent choice for your first visit!

The most central district of Amsterdam is called the Binnenstad, the city's historical heart. By choosing a B&B Amsterdam in this area, you're within easy reach of all the landmarks perfect for your first visit to the city. Feel like a local by exploring by bicycle or taking a boat trip along the canals to see the city from a unique perspective. This is definitely one of the more touristy neighbourhoods, so keep in mind that it may be very lively in the evenings, especially around the Red Light District.

    B&B Amsterdam - Jourdaan

Choose Jordaan for a more authentic experience

One of the nicest areas to stay in Amsterdam is the Jordaan district, west of the city centre. This neighbourhood, chosen by the artist Rembrandt to spend the last years of his life, is a residential, less touristic area that nonetheless features beautiful UNESCO-listed canals and allows you to get in touch with the locals. Here you will find the Anne Frank House and plenty of cultural events throughout the year.

The Museum Quarter: perfect for families

The Museum Quarter is another excellent area to book a bed and breakfast during your trip to Amsterdam. From here, you can take a short walk to the Van Gogh Museum and the famous Rijksmuseum. In the evenings, this area is very tranquil and is next to the beautiful Vondelpark, making it very suitable for families or couples. If you like nightlife, however, you can easily reach Dam Square in a few minutes by tram.

Other areas of the city you may also like

South of the historical centre, you'll find the De Pijp district, the city's most multi-ethnic and culturally rich area. Perfect for groups of friends and young couples, this area is buzzing with restaurants and clubs. If you stay in Amsterdam Noord or the Docklands, you might lose touch with the canals and the typical Amsterdam centre. However the accommodation can be of a higher standard, and you can quickly get back to the centre by public transport.

What is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

Amsterdam is beautiful in every season! Spring offers the spectacle of tulip fields in full bloom near the city. In summer, temperatures can soar to peaks of 30°, with endless hours of daylight and plenty of outdoor activities. Thanks to the still mild climate, September is a great month to visit this European capital, but without the August crowds. If, on the other hand, you love wintery atmospheres, Amsterdam can offer beautiful sights from October to February: temperatures rarely drop below freezing, but when they do, the frozen canals and snow make the outlines of the canal houses, the typical 'trapgevels', even more fascinating.

    Getting around Amsterdam

Amsterdam is not a very big city, and its excellent public transport makes exploring even easier. The local tram, bus and metro operator is called GVB and offers many options for tourists, including the OV-chipkaart, a day pass for unlimited travel. You'll even find a free ferry crossing the IJ! The quintessential means of transport in Amsterdam, however, remains the bicycle. Some of our B&Bs provide some bikes for guests, or the hosts can always show you where to rent one!
