The Ooijpolder forms an important part of the Gelderse Poort nature reserve between the river Waal and the N325 with Germany on the east side. A spectacular setting at the foot of the lateral moraine and a stone's throw from the Netherlands' oldest city: Nijmegen! Despite the construction of dykes, this former marshland still has large stretches of land that are periodically under water, harbouring unique flora and fauna. Not for nothing do you find many walking and cycling routes in the floodplains and hills of Berg en Dal. B&B ‘Casa Tranquila’ (quiet house) is beautifully situated on the dike of the working-class hamlet ‘De Tien Geboden’, which has a long history. A former milking parlour houses the themed rooms El Toro and El Caballo, inspired by Spanish Andalusia.
